Escape Beyond Holiday Lets are based in the heart of County Durham. County Durham is a great base to explore Newcastle, Durham City and Northumberland and perfect for any age groups of family and friends.

Our cottages enjoy a great location in the heart of friendly villages with a range of independent shops, dog friendly pubs with outdoor space, interesting restaurants, and takeaway food within walking distance. Discover a network of pretty walking and cycling routes, including a section of the Coast to Coast Walk.

Guests will want to see Durham City and its magnificent cathedral, castle, stunning architecture, museums, and relaxing river walks. Explore Beamish, the Living Museum of the North for a full day of adventure and children of all ages are sure to enjoy Potters Tropical Village at the popular, local Lanchester Garden Centre. 

Head to Newcastle for shopping, art and culture, and a boat trip on the River Tyne. Call at the Metro Centre, one of Europe’s biggest indoor shopping centres. Drive to Hexham Abbey, the Roman forts in Hadrian’s Wall Country, venture into the North Pennines or visit the market town of Barnard Castle. Even the Lake District is only a 90 minute drive away or the coast of North East England is even closer.
